“The Hohokam Culture of Southern Arizona” 12-session adult education class online via Zoom

Each Monday evening from September 20 – December 13, 2021 (except skip October 25), archaeologist Allen Dart, RPA, Executive Director of Old Pueblo Archaeology Center, will teach “The Hohokam Culture of Southern Arizona” 12-session adult education class online via Zoom, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. There is a requested donation of $99 ($80 for members of Old Pueblo Archaeology Center, Arizona Archaeological Society [AAS], and Friends of Pueblo Grande Museum [FOPGM]). This does not include costs of recommended text (The Hohokam Millennium by Paul R. Fish and Suzanne K. Fish, editors; available from Old Pueblo for $24.95 [Old Pueblo, AAS, & FOPGM members $20] + shipping) and does not include cost of optional AAS membership or AAS Certification Program enrollment.
Registered Professional Archaeologist Allen Dart teaches this class in 12 two-hour sessions to explore the archaeology of the ancient Hohokam culture of the American Southwest. The class covers Hohokam origins, subsistence and settlement systems, social and organizational systems, material culture including ceramics, other artifacts, and architecture, interaction within and beyond the Hohokam culture’s regional boundaries, and ideas on religion and exchange. Students seeking the AAS Certification are expected to prepare a brief research report to be presented orally or in written or video format. Minimum enrollment 10 people.
