Arrowhead-making and Flintknapping Workshop

RESCHEDULED OCTOBER 24, 2020 – On April 18, 2020, Old Pueblo Archaeology Center will host the “Arrowhead-making and Flintknapping Workshop” with flintknapper Sam Greenleaf. Learn how to make arrowheads, spear points, and other flaked stone artifacts just like ancient peoples did. In this workshop, flintknapping expert Sam Greenleaf provides participants with hands-on experience and learning on how pre-European Contact people made and used projectile points and other tools created from obsidian and other stone. All materials and equipment are provided. The class is designed to help modern people understand how pre-Contact Native Americans made traditional crafts and is not intended to train students how to make artwork for sale. Limited to six registrants. This workshop will be held at 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Old Pueblo Archaeology Center, 2201 W. 44th Street, Tucson. There is a $35 requested donation ($28 for Old Pueblo Archaeology Center and Pueblo Grande Museum Auxiliary members; 50% off for persons who have taken this class previously).
