Web of Archaeology Virtual Excavation
With the assistance of a grant from the Arizona Humanities Council and support from Old Pueblo Archaeology Center contributors, Old Pueblo is developing a “virtual archaeological dig” based on the actual excavation of a prehistoric pithouse at the Yuma Wash Hohokam Indian ruin in Marana, Arizona. Called the "Web of Archaeology," the virtual dig will stress the importance of having a research orientation for an archaeological investigation, using proper archaeological methods including in-field documentation, scientific interpretation, and publication of results. Visit us again when we get the virtual dig web pages up and running so that you can participate in a dig from the comfort of your home or classroom!
